Microsoft Billionaire Paul Allen Pledges To Leave Fortune To Charity
Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen said today that he plans to leave the majority of his estate to the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, the charity which supports nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest. According to Allen, he said the move would allow his philanthropic efforts to continue after his lifetime. In a statement, Allen said "I'be planned for many years now that the majority of my estate will be left to philanthropy to continue the work of the Foundation and to fund non-profit scientific research." The announcement was made on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the foundation. The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation said it has awarded more than $400M in over 3,000 grants.
