Turning Off The Lights At Microsoft Hohm
It looks like Microsoft Hohm, the home energy efficiency and monitoring project run by Microsoft, is finally getting set to turn out the lights, according to a note sent out to users of the service today from Microsoft. Microsoft said the last day for the service is May 31, 2012. Microsoft had announced way back in June of last year that it would shut the service on May 31st, which it attributed to "slow overall market adoption of the service". Hohm had originally been launched as an answer to a similar Google called Google PowerMeter, which was itself shut down by Google, after similar issues with lack of interest and adoption.
