Nintendo 3DS Breaks 4M Unit Mark
Nintendo, which has its U.S. operations in Redmond, reported this morning that it has sold more than 4 million units of the Nintendo 3DS, more sold in the first nine months of availability than the Wii. The 3DS is the firm's 3D gaming unit. Nintendo said that in 2011, it sold more than 12 million hardware units, including 4.5M of its Wii systems, and 3.4M Nintendo DS systems, on top of the 4M Nintendo 3DS. Those numbers brings the total install base of Wii to 39M, and the Nintendo DS line to 51M.
