Nintendo To Discontinue Immensely Popular NES Classic Edition
The price of those Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems on the secondary market is about to go through the roof, after word leaked out on Thursday that Nintendo will be discontinuing the immensely popular throwback game systems. Nintendo says it has "no plans" to produce more NES Classic systems for North America, despite the huge amount of popularity of the systems. Nintendo had launched the NES Classic Edition at the end of 2016, apparently only expecting limited interest in the systems, which let users play the old, classic (and clunky) versions of Nintendo Games like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda. However, the company has been plagued with supply problems, and apparently has struggled to fill orders for those systems ever since launch. Nintendo runs its U.S. operations out of Redmond.
