Cray Wins Kyoto University
Seattle-based supercomputer maker Cray has scored a customer win in Japan, at the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS) at Kyoto University. The firm said Tuesday afternoon that the university has chosen the company to deliver a 300-teraflop, Cray XE6 supercomputer in 2012, and a 400-teraflop, "Cascade" supercomputer in 2014. Financial details of the win were not announced. The supercomputers will both be used by the university, as well as a network of nation-wide educational and research institutes in Japan.
