Amazon Web Services Gains Federal Accreditation
Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, announced today that it has received an accreditation which will help it provide its services to federal agencies. AWS said that it has earned the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Moderate Authorization and Accreditation, which documents and implements its information security systems. That certification allows Amazon to provide its infrastructure to government agencies who require that level of security. Amazon said the certification covers Amazon EC2, S3, and VPC.
