Amazon EC2 Downtime Hits Popular Web Services

In the second, big downtime incident for Amazon's web services this week, Amazon saw about 30 minutes of downtime Monday evening, after issues cropped up on the firm's US-EAST-1 region around 7:39 p.m. PST Monday evening. The downtime impacted a large number of sites which use Amazon EC2 for processing, including Foursquare, Instagram, Quora, Reddit, and other sites. The downtime comes just a few days after lightning took out Amazon's cloud data centerin Dublin over the weekend. Amazon's status reports indicated there was an issue with connectivity to its data center.
