Amazon Hits Two Trillion Storage Objects
Amazon.com stores a lot of data nowadays for high tech companies, via its cloud-based Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)--to the tune of two trillion objects, according to Amazon today. Amazon did not say how much storage that is the equivalent to, but that amount is double the amount of objects stored by Amazon last June. Amazon's S3 has become an extremely popular place for technology companies--particularly, web- and mobile-based services--to store a very wide range of data, via the company's application programming interfaces.
