Amazon Buys Diapers.com

Seattle-based Amazon.com said this morning that it has acquired Quidsi, Inc., the operator of Diapers.com. The deal is worth $500M in cash, plus assumption of approximately $45M in debt and other obligations. Quidsi operates both Diapers.com, an online site for baby care products, as well as Soap.com, an online site for everyday items. Amazon said that Quidsi will continue to operate independently under its existing leadership team. Quidsi was backed by Accel Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, BEV Capital, MentorTech Ventures and NEA.
