Redfin Expands In Las Vegas, Austin

Seattle-based Redfin said Thursday afternoon that it has expanded its real estate search site to Las Vegas and Austin, bringing its total markets covered to 14. The firm said the move boosts the number of homes for sale on its site by 5.1 percent. Redfin said it had shied away from those market initially because of lower home prices, which make it difficult for its business model; however, the firm said it figures if it can make it in Las Vegas, it can "make it anywhere". Redfin said it is using more of its partner agents, rather than its own real estate agents, to make those new markets work.
