Getty Images Launches Copyright Education Initiative
Seattle-based Getty Images is hoping that image users will visit a new site run by the firm, Stockphotorights.com, and learn about copyright and legal issues behind using images on the web. According to Getty Images, the new site is an "educational resource" supported by the BAPLA (British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies) and PACA (Picture Archive Council of America), to help creative professionals understand legal usage of images from the web. Getty said that a recent survey finds that there is an "unsurprising lack of understanding" among image users of legal issues when they use image search engines and other sources.
