Microsoft Licenses exFAT File Format To Panasonic
Microsoft announced this morning that it has licensed its exFAT file system, which is being used by flash memory systems, to Panasonic Corp.. Financial details of the license deal were not disclosed. Microsoft said that its Extended File Allocaiton Table (exFAT) technology is being used for storing larger files on consumer electronic devices. exFAT is the latest incarnation of the original DOS FAT file format. Microsoft said the deal also covers FAT32 long file name technology support in Panasonic products.
