Cray Jaguar Fastest Supercomputer
Seattle-based Cray said Monday that the firm's Cray XT5 supercomputer--nicknamed "Jaguar"--installed at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named the world's fastest supercomputer. Cray said the recognition came from the Top 500 list, which lists and ranks the top 500 supercomputer sites in the world on a monthly basis. Cray's XT5 provides more than two petaflops of compute power, and has more than 224,000 compute cores.
