thePlatform Launches Video Ingestion Service
Seattle-based thePlatform, a provider of online video management and publishing tools, disclosed this morning that it has launched a new service to more easily upload and process videos. According to thePlatform, the new Video Ingest Service, which works with the firm's media publishing systems, will allow users to more easily move video and metadata online. Among the features of the new product are replacement of manual processes with automatic uploading of new videos; use of FTP or RSS to automatically ingest content; and adapters to convert various types of metadata into an indusutry standard. Pricing of the new service was not disclosed by the company. thePlatform's tools are used by online video publishers--including major video providers like BBC, CNBC, PBS, and others--to manage uploading and posting of their videos. The firm is now a subsidiary of Comcast.
