thePlatform Helps Better Connect Television, Online Video

The world of television and online video is getting a little closer today, as Seattle-based video publishing technology provider thePlatform announced a new product which helps cable, satellite, and IPTV service providers stream their content online. According to thePlatform, its Virtual TV Framework helps those provider replicate their 24 hour, live, linear and video-on-demand programming online. Current online video system are not particularly well suited to streaming live television online, thePlatform said, due to both technical and financial challenges. thePlatform says its new platform helps mirror live and VOD programming, handling all the video ingest/ CDN delivery/ and other efforts required to support live television streaming. Pricing on the new product was not announced.
