INRIX Expands Coverage To Interstate Highways
INRIX, a provider of real-time and predictive traffic information, revealed Thursday that it has begun to offer Nationwide Traffic Alerts on more than 100,000 miles of major roadways, including the entire U.S. Interstate Highway System. INRIX said the real-time alerts highlight abnormal traffic congestion and are based on data collected from mobile telephones, road sensors and more than 800,000 GPS-enabled vehicles. INRIX said online mapping site MapQuest and other business partners will deliver INRIX's Nationwide Traffic Alerts. Unlike existing networks, which primarily cover limited areas, INRIX said its national system allows long-haul truck drivers and cross-country travelers to remain informed throughout their trips. INRIX is headquartered in Kirkland, Wash.
