Planar Buys Display Provider

Beaverton, Oregon-based Planar Systems is acquiring Clarity Visual Systems, a developer of display solutions used for transportation and traffic control, security and defense, broadcast, and telecommunications. The deal is worth $46M in cash and stock. Planar said that the acquisition fits its new strategic direction, which is focusing on specialized display market segments. The firm also said that the acquisition gives it employees to augment its existing talent at the company. Clarity had sales of $59M in the 12 months ending June 30th, and employs 200 in Wilsonville.
