Microsoft Buys Citus Data

Microsoft said Thursday that it has acquired Citus Data, a developer of open source software for PostgreSQL. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. According to Microsoft, the deal will help accelerate its Azure PostgreSQL performance and scale. Citus Data was co-founded by Ozgun Erdogan, Umur Cubukcu, and Sumedh Pathak; the company had offices in both San Francisco and Istanbul, Turkey.
