Washington State Investment Board Invests In Sequoia Capital's New Fund
The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB)-which invests the assets of public retirement plans in Washington State--is reportedly investing up to $350M in a new, $5 billion global growth fund from tier one Silicon Valley venture capital firm Sequoia Capital. According to reports, the move is the first by Sequoia, which has not typically accepted public pension investments in its funds. Sequoia Capital--one of the great-grandparents of today's venture capital industry--is well known for its investments in such Google, Apple, Cisco, LinkedIn, Oracle, PayPal, Yahoo, YouTube, and many, many, others.
