Planetary Resources: Arkyd-6 CubeSat A Success
Redmond-based Planetary Resources says its test launch of its Arkyd-6 CubeSat on January 12th is a success, with the satellite completing all of its mission requirements. The Arkyd-6 CubeSat was delivered into space on the Indian PLV C40 rocket in January, and has since been sending back data and images to earth. Planetary Resources said that it successfully demonstrated its demonstrated its distributed computing system, communications, attitude control system, power generation and storage with deployable solar arrays and batteries, star tracker & reaction wheels, and the first commercial mid-wave infrared (MWIR) imager operated in space. the satellite is designed to detect water in space.
