Planetary Resources Sends New Satellite Into Space
Redmond-based Planetary Resources said it successfully sent up a satellite into space, launched into space by the country of India from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. Planetary Resources said its 6U CubeSat, the Arkyd-6, is already sending telemetry to the company. The company's Arkyd-6 is designed to detect water, and is being used to test out technology in its space resource exploration program, the firm said. Planetary Resources is developing technology for "space mining"--harvesting mineral resources to asteroids flying by the Earth.
