Elemental's Sam Blackman Passes Away Suddenly

Sam Blackman, the founder of Portland-based Elemental Technologies--now part of Amazon.com--has died suddenly. Blackman was 41. According to reports, Blackman appeared to have died from a heart attack. Elemental first raised funding from the Oregon Angel Fund, the Bend Venture Conference and Seattle Alliance of Angels back in 2007, and eventually sold to Amazon.com in 2015 for $296M. Blackman continued to serve as CEO of AWS Elemental.
