Amazon Takes On Web, Audio Conferencing With Amazon Chime
Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, said very late Monday evening that it has launched a, web-based video and audio conferencing service called Amazon Chime. According to Amazon, the new service lets its customers run video and audio meetings across desktops, iOS, and Android devices. Amazon said its unified communications service tackles issues with "second rate" online meetings products, with grainy video, poor audio quality, and long PIN numbers. Amazon said it will make the new service available through partners Level 3 and Vonage, with availability in the second quarter of 2017; Vonage will provide Amazon Chime Pro Edition to all of its business customers at no additional cost.
