Allrecipes Jumps On Board With Beacons

Seattle-based online recipe site Allrecipes has tied into an application of beacons, which will pull up the site's recipes on smartphones--based on store's sales. According to Allrecipes, it has teamed up with an Ohio grocery store, Marc's, where in-store notifications from in-store beacons will allow shoppers to pull up recipes from Allrecipes Dinner Spinner app. The beacoon app is being developed by Verifone and its Footmarks SmartConnect proximity platform. Allrecipes said the recipes pulled from its Dinner Spinner app will be driven by what is on sale at Marc's stores at the time of a customer's visit. "Beacons" are a technology which senses where a shopper is, and if they are close to a specific location, display, or object, to help drive smartphone apps, notifications, and ads.
