Greenlight Aims To Turn Your Smartphone Into Dashcam

In an effort to turn one of driving's biggest dangers--the smartphone--instead into an automotive safety feature, Seattle-based Greenlight has just started taking pre-orders for a "smart cradle" which turns a smartphone into a dashcam. The startup, led by former Contour co-founder Jason Green, says its "Greenlight SmartCradle" connects to a user's smartphone, and automatically starts loop recording a user's drive, detects incidents, and uploads incidents to the cloud--plus captures sensor data from the phone for future features to improve driving habits and safety.The company is asking $49.99 for the pre-release product.
