Insitu Aims At Commercial Customers

Bingen, Washington-based unmanned vehicle maker Insitu--best known for its ScanEagle military drone--said it has launched a new, commercial business unit, which will focused on the emerging unmanned commercial aerial data collection market. Insitu did not provide many details on the new unit, but said it will offer up its vehicles, control software, data processing and distribution software, sensor payloads, and more to its customers. Insitu's UAVs are heavily used by the U.S. military, which began using the company's UAVs in Iraq.
