Microsoft Buys Xamarin For Mobile App Development Tools

Microsoft said today that it has acquired Xamarin, a software company that makes mobile app development tools. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Xamarin, the definitive acquisition is an "ideal next step" for the company and its customers. Xamarin was founded in 2011, and has more than 350 employees; the company was backed by Charles River Ventures, Floodgate, Ignition Partners, and Lead Edge Capital.
