NuScale Links With Ultra Electronics

Portland-based nuclear power developer NuScale Power has linked with Ultra Electronics, a developer of nuclear reactor instrumentation, sensors, and safety systems. The two said they are in a strategic partnership which will support deployment of NuScale's small nuclear reactor technology worldwide. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. NuScale is looking to bring its vision of a small, nuclear reactor technology to market, and is backed by Fluor Corporation, which owns a majority of the company; the company says its technology is safer than existing designs, and do not require electricity or external water supplies to operate or shut down.
