Amazon.com Shutters Travel Site, Amazon Destinations
In what might be the quickest entry-and-exit into a business ever for Seattle-based Amazon.com, the e-commerce giant has quietly shuttered its Amazon Destinations site, its effort to help connect its customers with vacations near home. The service--which only launched in April--had connected users with hotel rooms and other vacation options within driving distance. The site said in a message posted on Tuesday that "Effective October 13, 2015, Amazon Destinations stopped selling hotel reservations."
