Amazon Launches In Spain
Seattle-based Amazon.com said today that it has expanded into the country of Spain, and opened up Amazon.es, a localized version of the e-commerce giant. According to Amazon, the website will offer its books, DVDs, video games, music, and consumer electronics, as well as other products. Amazon said it has been sending orders to Spain since it opened in July of 1995, but that the new Spanish site will allow customers in that country to now benefit from a version of Amazon Premium, the free unlimited shipping program offered by Amazon. The new site also includes a mobile-optimized version of Amazon for Spanish consumers. Interestingly enough, Amazon's Spanish site does not yet include its popular, Kindle electronic book reader, which is apparently in the works for later this year, according to Spanish news publications.
