WTIA Boots Up Tech Apprenticeship Program
The Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) said this week that it has launched a large scale, technology apprenticeship program to help bridge people into technology careers. The WTIA said its new program, which is funded by a $5M, U.S. Department of Labor grant, will go towards recruiting, training, and placing more than 600 registered apprentices in Washington state over the next 5 years. The WTIA has tied with Microsoft, F5 and AT&T, among others, to support the program, which will both help provide more, homegrown talent to the technology sector--as well as help reach out to female, Hispanic, African American, and veterans trying to make it into the tech workforce.
