Maveron Backs HopSkipDrive, Ride Service For Kids

Seattle-based venture investor Maveron is one of the backers of a new startup, which is looking to bring the on-demand model of Uber to the world of kids. HopSkipDrive said Tuesday that it has raised $3.9M in a seed funding, which included Maveron, and was led by Upfront Ventures, plus FirstMark Capital, BBG Ventures, and angel investors Joanne Wilson. The startup--which currently only operates in Los Angeles--said it uses nurses, nannies, parents, teachers, and other caregivers who are background checked and go through an extensive vetting--for its service.
