Maveron Backs Latimer Education
Seattle-based venture capital firm Maveron said today that the firm is backing Washington, D.C-based Latimer Education, a firm developing an online university for African Americans. According to Maveron, it led the investment of $1.25M in Latimer, along with un-named, high net worth individuals and the company's founders. As part of the funding, Maveron's Jason Stoffer and Amy Errett have joined Latimer's baord. The investment follows a number of other, online education firms, including Capella Education, Livemocha, and Altius Education. Latimer is headed by Scott R. Royster, former CFO of Radio One.
