Glowforge Gets $9M For 3D Laser Cutter/Engraver
Seattle-based Glowforge, which is developing 3D laser printers for the consumer market, said today that it has raised $9M in a Series A funding round. The funding came from Foundry Group, True Ventures, as well as angels Bre Pettis and Jenny Lawton (both formerly of MakerBot). Glowforge has created a laser cutter/engraver which lets users create items out of wood, leather, foam, paper, and fabric directly from software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The company said the funding goes towards hiring mechanical, electrical and software engineers at its Seattle headquarters.
