iovation Taps Devices For Authentication, Security

Portland-based online fraud prevention tool developer iovation said today that it has launched a new, device-based authentication service, to help reduce account takeovers and other issues. The company said its new device-based authentication service uses a customer's known devices--such as a laptop or mobile phone--to verify a user's authorization to access their account. Pricingon the new service was not announced. Iovation said its service reduces the number of times a user gets a "challenge" -- those security questions, text messages, and other login steps--to decrease friction and customer support costs.
