Rover.com Gets Backing From Ashton Kutcher
Seattle-based online pet sitting marketplace Rover.com said today that it has scored funding from Ashton Kutcher, from his investment fund, A-Grade Investments. Size of the investment was not disclosed. Rover.com said the investment comes as it launches a new, "red carpet" service for pet owners in Los Angeles. The new Premier Service--currently only available in LA--helps pet owners find local sitters without having to log onto their commputer, by simply calling up a "concierge" to find a sitter on the service. Kutcher said in a statement that it "finally found" the company it wanted to back in the pet sitting space, which it had been looking at for awhile. LA is an interesting market for Rover.com, which faces some direct, local competition from DogVacay.com in the market.
