Redfin Buys Walk Score
Seattle-based Redfin said this morning that it has acquired Walk Score, which operates an online service to rate different neighborhoods on their pedestrian friendliness. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Walk Score was also based in Seattle, and had been founded in 2007 by Matt Lerner, Jesse Kocher, Mike Mathieu and Josh Herst. Walk Score offers up different ratings of neighborhood based on the availability of public transit, ease of use getting to local scores, and much more. As part of the buy, Walk Score CTO Matt Lerner becomes VP of Local Engineering, and the company's other employees will also join REdfin. Walk Score CEO Josh Herst becomes a strategic advisor to the firm during the transition.
