Microsoft Aims At Schools With Hardware Partners
Redmond-based Microsoft is hoping to gain more inroads into the education market with a new effort, which focuses on offering up hardware running its operating system to schools for less than $300, the company said today. Microsoft unveiled a long list of devices from Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, Panasonic, and Toshiba, which it specifically is aimed at bringing low-cost Windows-based devices to U.S. schools. Microsoft said the effort is part of its YouthSpark initiative, which is its outreach program to schools and teachers. The partner devices all run Windows 8.1, and vary from tablet to laptops.
