Microsoft Plans To Teach Veterans Software Programming

What's the solution to finding U.S. military veterans better jobs after returning from deployment? Redmond-based Microsoft said Monday that it believes one thing is to help those service members learn software development. According to Microsoft, it has launched a new program--the Microsoft Software & Systems Academy--which will train active duty, U.S. service members on software development skills, via a sixteen week course. Microsoft said the new program will help train those U.S. service members on such jobs as developer, applications engineer and IT project manager. Microsoft is launching the first part of the program out of Saint Martin's University at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state, with plans to roll out in California and Texas later this year.
