Elemental Powers 4K Ultra HD Video Project In Japan
Portland-based video encoding technology developer Elemental Technologies said today that it is powering an ultra high definition video project in Japan. Elemental said its products will be used by K-Opticom Corporation, a telecommunications operator in Japan, to power the first live, 4K Ultra HD transmission in Japan, of the Osaka Marathon. 4K Ultra HD is four times the resolution of HD. Elemental says its equipment will encode the video using 4K Ultra HD high-efficiency video coding (H.265/HEVC).
