Elemental Gets Japanese Win

Portland-based Elemental Technologies, the developer of video transcoding products, has scored a win in Japan, the firm said this morning. According to Elemental it is in a partnership with CTCSP to provide its video encoding and transcoding products to streaming service providers in Japan. The company did not discuss what the deal was worth to the company, however, it said the two have already secured a number of significant customers in the region, including Fujitsu Limited, IIJ (Internet Initiative Japan, Inc.), and JISS (Japan Institute of Sports Sciences). Elemental's products take advantage of commodity, graphical processing units (GPUs) to accelerate the transcoding and encoding process for Internet video.
