Staples Lands In Seattle For Engineering Talent

In an increasingly familiar move, a large, national brand has selected Seattle for an office, in order to tap into the region's wealth of engineering talent. Office products retailer Staples said this morning that it is opening up a new, development center in Seattle, where it will hire an e-commerce and engineering team. According to Staples, the office is its first, West Coast office, and will drive initiatives in the area of next generation digital platforms, personalization, and big-data. Staples called Seattle an "innovation hub rivaling Silicon Valley", where it could tap into a "wide range of talented engineering and e-commerce professionals". The retailer said it is hiring across such areas as software development, product management, usability, analytics and online merchandising. Staples did not say how many people it intends to hire in the location. Staples is based in Massachusetts.
