Local Travel Angels Pile Into Vacatia
A pile of local, travel industry angels--plus local venture investor Maveron-- are backing a new, Silicon Valley travel marketplace. Vacation Listing Service announced this morning has raised $5M in a seed funding round, to help launch its online consumer marketplace for timeshares, Vacatia. The funding round included Seattle angel investors Spencer Rascoff (of Zillow), Erik Blachford (of Expedia), as well as a Maveron. Other investors in the round included Thomas Byrne(Loopnet); Robert Spottswood (Hyatt Vacation Ownership); Raymond L. "Rip" Gellein, Jr., (Vistana Resorts, Starwood Vacation Ownership); Barry Sternlicht and Steve Hankin (Starwood Capital), Egon Durban (Silver Lake), Douglas Dillard, Jr. (Standard Pacific Capital) and Gene Frantz (Google Capital). In addition to Maveron, Bee Partners, Peterson Ventures and Meyer Ventures also invested in the new startup.
