Amazon Lowers Book Prices As Pricing Battle Breaks Out
Amazon.com has long been the king of the hill when it comes to selling physical books on the Internet--and it looks like it intends to keep it that way, cutting its prices drastically in a pricing battle. The cuts come as fellow e-commerce firm Overstock.com said last week that it would be cutting all of its book prices to undercut Amazon.com by 10%. That declaration has led Amazon to broadly lower book prices on its hardcover bestsellers, to prices unseen on Amazon.com.
