Pacific Northwest Sees $222.8M In Q2 Investments
Washington and Oregon saw a total of $222.8M in investments in Q2, according to the MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association, which was released this evening. Those totals were above Q1, when $159.7M was invested in the region, and also above the $194.4M invested in Q2 of 2012.
Washington had the most investments, with $207.59M invested across 27 deals; Oregon had $15.26M, and 8 deals.
Nationally, venture investors put $6.7 billion into 913 deals in Q2, which was up 12 percent in terms of dollars, and 2 percent in terms of deals versus the $6.0 billion invested in 896 deals a year ago. According to the report, the area with the highest amount of investment was software, where $2.1 billion was invested nationally in Q2. Biotechnology was second, with $1.3 billion--a big increase from the prior quarter.
