Coinstar Becomes Outerwall

Bellevue-based Coinstar said Friday afternoon that it has renamed the company to Outerwall. According to Coinstar, it will begin trading under the new name and a new, NASDAQ ticker symbol, OUTR, on July 2nd. Coinstar said the new name came after approval by its stockholders for the change. Coinstar has, in recent years, expanded well beyond its roots in automated kiosks for collecting change for consumers, into DVD and video game rental through Redbox, as well as other kiosk ventures.
