Socrata Lands $18M For Cloud Software For Government

Seattle-based Socrata, a developer of software-as-a-service for government, said today that it has raised $18M in a Series B funding round. The round was led by OpenView Venture Partners, and also included Morgenthaler Ventures and Frazier Technology Partners. Scott Maxwell of OpenView joins the company's board with the funding. Socrata, which is led by Kevin Merritt, develops a cloud software platform to help open up government data for access to citizens, developers, and government employees.
