Clearwire Gets New, Higher Bid From DISH Network
The bidding for Kirkland-based Clearwire has suddenly kicked off again this morning, as DISH Network made an offer to acquire Clearwire for $4.40 per share in cash. That offer is a dollar more per share than the $3.40 per share that Sprint is offering for the wireless network operator. DISH made the offer this morning in a public letter to Clearwire's board. Sprint is a majority shareholder in Clearwire, and in a complicated set of arrangements itself is being acquired by Japanese investor Softbank.
