Amazon Backs Enterprise Storage Firm

Seattle-based Amazon.com is backing a new, enterprise data storage firm, Cirtas, as part of a trio of investors backing the new firm. According to Cirtas, it is developing storage appliances which provides enterprise storage, but which use cloud storage such as Amazon S3. Amazon joined New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Lightspeed Venture Partners as backers of Cirtas. Amazon's S3 data storage is used by a number of cloud, data storage and backup providers.
