Amazon Vets Sell Startup To Oracle
Two former Amazon.com veterans, Chris Pinkham--formerly Vice President of Engineering at Amazon.com, and who started Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) efforts, and Willem van Biljon, formerly also working on Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud business, have sold their new startup, Nimbula, to Oracle. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Nimbula was based in Mountain View, California, but also had significant operations in Cape Town, South Africa, where both Pinkham and Biljon--and one of Amazon EC2's development centers--is located.
